Lean. Agile. Strategic.

The Need

Since 1979, Davis Malm has focused on bringing together the best components of both small and large law firms. Their motto? “We may be out-manned, but we’re never out-gunned.”

Continuing to grow and thrive as a full-service law firm outfitted with the finest talent available, Davis Malm knew their brand—unchanged for 10 years prior to working with 36—needed a significant refresh in order to stay relevant in a shifting climate. Their request for a new look that better represented the firm’s core values of forward-thinking entrepreneurship and pioneering spirit instantly got our wheels turning.

The Approach

We kicked things off with a full brand positioning exercise and in-depth competitive analysis. A shiny new website served as the major component of updating the Davis Malm brand. Taking cues from the pitfalls that legal websites often suffer from—giant sitemaps, poor navigation and jumbled, disorganized lists of practice areas—our development team focused on creating a user experience (UI) and ease of use that is often lacking in the field. Clean lines, smooth dropdown menus and a simple method of getting in touch with the firm all served as paramount elements for a website that would soon become the new public face of Davis Malm.

The Solution

We built an entirely new identity system for the firm—unique, sophisticated and extremely memorable. Through typeface, color palette and imagery, our team successfully created a brand image that stands out in the legal space, portraying both unmatched expertise and a progressive, strategic and capable approach to handling a wide variety of cases for clients across all walks of life. A highly engaging, easily navigable website serves as the centerpiece for the updated Davis Malm brand identity, featuring custom photography and in-house art direction to match the tone of the identity package we created; we like to think it looks pretty sharp.
