The Need

Traveling Vineyard began in 2001 as nothing more than an idea—that it’s nearly impossible to know if you like a particular wine without being able to try it first. This simple concept launched an entire in-home wine tasting service, cornerstoned by hundreds of “Wine Guides” that have helped bring the brand into countless homes and businesses.

36 partnered with Traveling Vineyard in 2013 in response to a need for a complete brand strategy overhaul, updated visual system design, and a new interactive presence across the board.

The Approach

We began by looking at the space, competition, and DNA make-up of Traveling Vineyard, which allows us to strategically place the company in a league of its own. Our goal was to create a visual system that supported the brand by using vibrant, engaging images, energetic patterns, and a lengthy list of marketing material to help spread the word and encourage people to join-on as Wine Guides. This involved our typical discovery process; getting to know the personality and nuanced aspects of Traveling Vineyard that make the company what it is.

Discovery involved experiencing our own wine tasting, meeting wine guides, and attending their annual Harvest event (that gathers all their Wine Guides together to learn more about the upcoming year). This helped us identify huge opportunities for retention, administrative streamlining, and enhancement of revenue.

The Solution

From their logo, to their website, to their marketing materials, 36 implemented a new brand that captured the excitement that’s intrinsic to becoming a Wine Guide and enjoying Traveling Vineyard wines with friends.

Over the course of the next few years, 36 also developed an app to support Wine Guides in managing contacts, parties, and preform wine orders (both in-person and online). Today, the system is currently being utilized by over 5,000 Wine Guides, and all wine sales are handled through the application.

The Outcome

Our custom application—designed specifically for Traveling Vineyard—not only improved operations and event management across the entire country, but also transformed the tasting event sales process, yielding an instant increase in both sales and new Wine Guide registrations.

Thanks to a 400%+ increase in online lead submissions and more at-event sales than ever before, what used to be the most difficult part of the session for Wine Guides is now one of the easiest and most fun. Traveling Vineyard continues to experience exciting levels of growth, and we couldn’t be happier than to watch them succeed.
